In Ukraine
- More than 100 thousand children - orphans are in orphanages.
- More than 500 children's homes and orphanages in Ukraine.
Since 2001 year "Bible Orphan Ministry"(BOM) has ministry in Ukraine among children-orphans in 10 orphanages. In these orphanages there are children of the orphan, mentally retarded, with special needs, autism, cripple and children with Down`s syndrome etc. The basic direction BOM – the sermon of the Gospel to employees of orphanages and carrying out regular Bible lessons to children in children's homes, orphanages and mental institutions. ВОМ as far as possible helps children in orphanages in their needs: school accessories, footwear, clothes, food and other needs.
Now mission covers more than 1000 children. Our goal is to show these children God love to them and to disciple them in Christ. We also want to care for them in a Christ-like way, assisting them with their emotional, physical, and spiritual needs. In these places, they have no hope. The children feel lonely and neglected. For a variety of reasons, their parents have abandoned them. Some of orphans since birth have never known the love of a family.
Statistical data shows that only one of ten Ukrainian orphans becomes a functional member of a society. Others are lost to crime, suicide, unemployment, homelessness, abusing drugs, prostitution and a victim of formation of human trade - only a few from results.
·60% of orphanage “graduates” are unemployed
·50% use drugs and abuse alcohol
·15% fall into prostitution to survive
·Life in an institution has left them completely unprepared to manage simple tasks of life - or make good choices about relationships, whom to trust, or how to spend their time. No guidance and no accountability mean no compass. Orphaned girls are especially vulnerable to prostitution and sex trafficking.15%of them sell their bodies to survive.
Our strategy is holistic, encompassing spiritual, social, physical, and educational facets.
Bringing the forgotten orphan children to faith in Christ, discipling them, and equipping them to be productive citizens and Christians.
